Chair's Message

Raymond Brunet, P. Eng., 2007 Chair of the BoardDear Colleagues,

From March 2nd to the 6th, 2008, the Canadian Construction Association will host its 90th Annual Conference in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia at the Fairmont Empress. Victoria 2008: 90 Years of Heritage will be a conference filled with surprises as we celebrate this special anniversary!

From museums to art galleries, historic landmarks, gardens and zoos, golfing and skiing, you will quickly realize that when visiting Victoria and Vancouver Island, you are more likely to run out of time than things to do. The harbour is alive with the romance of an era when tall ships moored alongside the wharf and evenings glitter as lights twinkle and cast their magic from atop the landmark British Columbia Legislative Buildings.

Once again, CCA will be offering an extremely solid program for its annual conference with business sessions and seminars on topics such as:

Procurement; Technology; Immigration;
Construction Law; Industry Practices; Communications;
Gold Seal; Leadership Succession; Economic Forecast;

In addition to these sessions and seminars, the conference program will also include a LEED Contractors Course (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) that participants will be able to use as credits toward LEED certifcation.

I encourage you to participate and share your ideas with other leaders of the construction industry at the various CCA Committee and Council meetings, including the Human Resources, e-Construction, Membership & Promotion, Research & Innovation, and Finance committees and the General, Trades, RoadBuilders, and Manufacturers, Suppliers and Services councils.

The social activities we have planned are designed to highlight the uniqueness of what Victoria has to offer and will be the perfect setting to celebrate CCA's 90 Years of Heritage. Renew past acquaintances during the Welcoming Night, test your golf game at the beautiful Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club, wear a period costume during the Theme Night's 9 Decades to Celebrate, spend some time on ski slopes, and dance the night away at the Closing Gala with The Timebenders.

For your convenience, CCA has negotiated preferred room rates at the Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler both before and after the conference.

I invite you to read through the pages of this conference website to reveal what the 2008 CCA Annual Conference has to offer to both you and your family. I look forward to welcoming you to the City of Gardens, beautiful Victoria, BC and I encourage you to be part of this special occasion as we celebrate CCA's 90th anniversary.
