Non-Residential Construction Investment in Canada sees Quarterly Gains

Investment in non-residential building construction increased 1.8% to $11.2 billion in the second quarter. The increase, which followed three quarters of declining investment, was attributable to higher spending in the commercial and industrial components. Read more

CCA Participates in Consultations on New CEAA Regulations

On July 18th CCA participated in a special consultation meeting in Ottawa hosted by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency on the new Project List Regulations (i.e. Regulations Designating Physical Activities) to be developed in support of the new Canadian Environmental assessment Act 2012.  These Regulations will identify the physical activities that constitute “designated projects” that may require an environmental assessment by the Agency, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission or the National Energy Board.  View regulations

Canadian Construction and Green Build Capabilities Showcase Mission – Panama – September 11-12, 2012

The Export Development Canada Infrastructure and Environment team hosts, attends and participates in a number of industry, government and association events in Canada and around the world. The Trade Commissioner Service in the Embassy of Canada to Panama is inviting Canadian companies to attend Canadian Construction and Green Build Capabilities Showcase in Panama. The mission will take place September 11-12 and will correspond with the timing of the CAPAC Expo Habitat Construction Trade Show (September 12-16); one of the most dynamic construction and building products trade shows in Central America. There is no charge for Canadian companies to participate in the showcase. Read more

The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) has released five reports: four in-depth research reports based on the National Apprenticeship Survey (NAS); and a summary report of the Red Seal employer survey. NOAs for Three Recently Designated Red Seal Trades Published

During the winter of 2012, the National Occupational Analyses (NOAs) for three new Red Seal trades were published: Tower Crane Operator, Mobile Crane Operator (Hydraulic) and Heavy Equipment Operator. Development activities for Interprovincial Red Seal Examinations and Interprovincial Program Guides (IPGs) are well underway. Read More
