CCA Excellence in Innovation
The CCA Excellence in Innovation Award recognizes outstanding CCA member firms who have implemented innovative construction practices within the past two years. These practices must have been a “first-time” use or adoption for use in Canada, but may have been previously applied or used elsewhere.
The recipient is awarded with the Hugh R. Montgomery Memorial Trophy, which commemorates the life and work of Hugh R. Montgomery, a past president of CCA who gave generously of his time and experience for the general well-being of the industry.

JCB Construction Canada
Urban construction is often accepted as a necessary disruption.
But at 600 De La Gauchetière, JCB Construction Canada proved that building in the heart of a city doesn’t have to slow it down.
Tasked with modernizing a 28-storey tower in downtown Montréal—JCB didn’t just renovate a façade. They reimagined how complex construction can coexist with city life.
Innovation at 600 De La Gauchetière went beyond speed and logistics—it was also deeply sustainable. Rather than just replacing the façade, JCB revitalized existing components, embracing circular-economy principles. Airtightness improved by a factor of 3.4, energy demand dropped significantly, and all 2,700 glazing units—210 tonnes of glass—were fully recycled.
For meticulous planning, early procurement, and disciplined risk management, seamlessly implementing Upbrella and Urban Umbrella as first-use-in-Canada solutions, JCB Construction Canada took home the CCA Excellence in Innovation award.

PCL Construction
CCA is also pleased to recognize PCL Construction with the CCA Excellence in Innovation award.
Today’s construction projects move faster, start earlier, and demand more precision than ever before.
For electrical teams in particular, delegated design and field-run scopes have increased dramatically in recent years—often evolving in real time, creating risk, rework, and pressure on crews and schedules.

Rather than accept those challenges as unavoidable, PCL asked a different question: What if technology could bring clarity to the workface—earlier, smarter, and safer?
The answer was Beeline.
Built using interoperable technologies like Open BIM, Beeline is designed to be accessible, adaptable, and future-ready. PCL’s teams continue to contribute back to the open-standards community while working alongside global leaders in AI and construction technology.
Beeline reflects PCL’s broader culture of innovation—one grounded in collaboration, open standards, and continuous improvement.
