Canada’s construction industry is hopeful that Prime Minister Carney and his newly appointed cabinet will demonstrate leadership by championing long-term investments in infrastructure, address skilled labour shortages, and support the critical projects that connect Canadians.

OTTAWA, May 13, 2025

The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) congratulates members of Canada’s 31st Ministry following today’s swearing in ceremony.

“It is refreshing to see so many new faces appointed to this cabinet,” said Rodrigue Gilbert, CCA President. “Now is the time for this new government — and new cabinet members — to bring local expertise, fresh ideas and solutions to the table, and work collaboratively with industry to overcome pressing challenges, such as growing labour shortages, outdated procurement processes, and navigating global trade disruptions.”

Canada’s construction industry looks forward to working with the entire new federal cabinet, as we collectively work to solve these critical issues facing Canadians.

“Prime Minister Carney made significant promises during throughout the election relating to Canadian internal trade, infrastructure investment, procurement, housing, and many other important priorities that are keeping Canadians awake at night,” said Gilbert. “It’s time now for this government to get to work, collaborate with industry, and follow through on their promises, so that we can all build a better Canada.”

This is an important time for our industry, our economy, and our country. As this new cabinet assumes their roles, it is important that they prioritize consultation with industry leaders to ensure that solutions to these challenges are practical, thoughtful, and effective. Most importantly, Canada’s construction industry encourages this new administration to think long-term — and lay the foundation for a stronger future for our country.
