CCA modernizes construction learning pathways with updated Construction 101 and new Construction 102 courses
The Canadian Construction Association (CCA), in collaboration with partner associations across the country, will launch its newly revised Construction 101 in Canada course alongside the introduction of Construction 102 in Canada on September 1, marking a significant step forward in strengthening industry education and workforce readiness.
“These updates reflect the realities of a rapidly evolving construction sector,” says CCA President Rodrigue Gilbert. “As project complexity increases, emerging technologies emerge, and expectations for productivity and collaboration grow, it is essential that foundational learning programs keep pace.”
The enhanced courses are designed to build awareness and confidence while equipping learners with consistent, practical knowledge that supports success across the industry.
Construction 101 in Canada: A refreshed foundation for industry learning
Construction 101 in Canada serves as the cornerstone of this learning pathway. This revised program provides a comprehensive introduction to the industrial, commercial, institutional, and civil (ICIC) construction landscape. Participants will gain a clear understanding of project delivery methods, stakeholder roles, procurement basics, and the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction through to close-out.
Designed for individuals new to the industry or transitioning into coordination, management, or support roles, the course emphasizes practical, real-world applications and industry best practices. It enables learners to confidently navigate project environments and understand how decisions are made and executed across all stages of construction.
Construction 102 in Canada: Advancing practical industry knowledge
Building on this strong foundation, Construction 102 in Canada introduces a deeper exploration of critical industry practices. This new one-day course focuses on advanced procurement, contract administration, and standardized contract terms, while also examining emerging trends and technologies shaping the future of construction.
Participants will expand their knowledge of bidding and tendering processes, contract management, and project closeout, while also engaging with forward-looking topics such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), LEAN construction, and artificial intelligence. Notably, Construction 102 is designed with flexibility in mind and does not require completion of Construction 101 as a prerequisite.
Both courses are supported by newly modernized materials, ensuring content remains aligned with current industry standards and practices.
Launching September 1 through partner associations
The official launch of the updated Construction 101 and new Construction 102 courses is set for September 1, with delivery led by local and provincial construction associations across Canada. These programs offer partner associations a valuable opportunity to engage members, deliver relevant training locally, grow non-dues revenue and help build a highly skilled, future-ready workforce.
