CCA strengthens engagement with federal project owners at inaugural DND-DCC Industry Day
The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) seized a significant opportunity to advance its goal of strengthening engagement with federal project owners at the inaugural Department of National Defence (DND)-Defence Construction Canada (DCC) Industry Day on November 13.
The event’s exceptional program and high level of attendance set a gold standard, reflecting DND and DCC’s commitment to incorporating industry feedback to foster a constructive dialogue. This collaborative approach is essential to catalyze Canada’s long-term economic growth.
With sessions on military infrastructure needs, including major and minor capital programs, the defence-focused industry day offered a forum for industry practitioners and government officials to exchange insights, share expertise, and identify solutions that support national defence infrastructure.
CCA welcomed the opportunity to contribute directly to this dialogue, with two CCA representatives participating in panel discussions: President Rodrigue Gilbert, who joined a panel on building challenges, risks, and opportunities, and Jorgen Kvist, Director of Industry Practices and Procurement, who took part in a discussion on collaborative delivery models.

CCA looks forward to future iterations of this event and encourages other departments and cabinet ministers to adopt similar engagement models, especially as the construction sector prepares to support major infrastructure commitments outlined in Budget 2025. With substantial new defence investments, CCA is committed to fortifying our partnership with the government in delivering defence capacity and infrastructure to ensure Canada’s security and sovereignty.
The association is also closely tracking the forthcoming publication of the Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS). Whether that involves embracing new innovative technology, fortifying the Canadian supply chain, expanding the skilled workforce, or reforming defence procurement, the DIS is expected to serve as an instrumental roadmap for industry as Canada enters a period of accelerated nation-building and infrastructure renewal.
